About Team Taiwania

Founded in 2019 by Taiwanese curler Ting-Li Lin, Team Taiwania was created with a clear and ambitious vision: to elevate the sport of curling in Taiwan and continue the pursuit of the Olympic dream. As both a competitive team and a develop initiative, we are dedicated not only to competing at the highest level but also to laying the groundwork for curling’s long-term development in Taiwan.

Our name, Taiwania, comes from Taiwania cryptomerioides—Taiwan’s majestic native tree known for its strength, resilience, and deep roots. It symbolizes who we are as a team: grounded in identity, quietly strong, and always reaching upward.

Curling has a unique history in Taiwan. Since the nation joined the World Curling Federation in 1998—under the name Chinese Taipei Curling Federation—the sport has largely depended on athletes based in North America, where access to rinks and competitions was more feasible. For over two decades, these overseas athletes carried the flag on international ice.

But change is in motion.

After the 2018 Winter Olympics sparked new interest in curling across Taiwan, a window opened to bring the sport home in a deeper, more meaningful way. Team Taiwania is going to bridge that gap—to connect international experience with local momentum, and to help cultivate the next generation of Taiwanese curling talent.

We train, compete, and grow with the goal of building a lasting curling culture—one that inspires future athletes, connects communities, and gives Taiwan a voice on the global curling stage.

Team Taiwania is more than a team—it’s a movement.
Whether you’re a fan, a fellow athlete, or someone discovering curling for the first time, we invite you to follow our journey, support our mission, and be part of the future of curling in Taiwan.
